Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) is a standardized entrance that measures verbal, mathematical and analytical writing skills. This entrance acts as a measuring scale for graduate schools across the globe to assess the potential of applicants for advanced study in business and management. GMAT is developed and administered by the US based educational testing service, ETS under the direction of the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC), a non-profit organization.
Educational Testing Services (ETS) sets the questions, conducts the test and sends the score report of the candidates. ETS has appointed testing agencies in various countries which acts as the regional franchisees of ETS. For example, in India, Prometric Testing (P) Ltd administers the test at 9 centres in the country.

The test is a required part of the admission process for most of the MBA (Business programs) in USA, Canada and other few countries of the world. In India, there are several institutes such as Indian School of Business (ISB) - Hyderabad, Great Lakes Institute of Management-Chennai, SP Jain Institute of Management & Research (SPJIMR) - Mumbai & Dubai, Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS)-Mumbai and Mudra Institute of Communication, Ahmedabad (MICA), who ask for GMAT scores for admission in their programs.
