The lateral placements at IIM-Calcutta are a huge success this year. After a dull phase of almost two years, offers have jumped a record 60% surge, Mitra Joshi and Sweta Sriram report.
Students and faculty at IIM-Calcutta are jumping with joy due to a hugely successful lateral placement process. Within a month over 200 offers have been made to students — almost 60% more than last year. Over 50 firms have participated, including global heavyweights
Amit Dhiman, Placement Chairperson at IIM-Calcutta said that major names that have participated till date included Barclays Bank, Accenture, Google and PWC. There are also some diversified Indian companies like the Aditya Birla Group.
Many of these companies, like Barclays Bank, Olam International, Google, Microsoft and Amazon have returned, now that the recession seems to be receding. Banks, private equity firms and hedge funds in particular have been active. With this success under its belt, IIM-Calcutta is now looking forward to final placements which start next month.
