With top-notch firms offering students of IIM, Rohtak, paid internship programmes, the summer placement of the first batch of the youngest management institute here has turned out to be a hit. According to information, all the 48 students of the batch in the post-graduate programme at the  IIM Rohtak have secured internships from 28 firms. The institute however refused to disclose what students would be paid during their internships.

Mohit Salviya, a student, who is also a spokesperson for the institute informed, "We are excited about getting a resounding response to our first summer internships, with students securing multiple internship offers with top-notch firms, keeping alive the standards set by other IIM."

"The 28 firms approached us with offers in corporate communications, corporate strategy, market research, advertising and brand management, internet marketing, IT consulting, mergers and acquisitions and project finance apart from conventional profiles of marketing, sales, corporate finance and retail banking," Salviya told TOI.

He revealed that 45% of the students opted for marketing and related fields, 42% for finance related profiles, and the rest in consulting, operations and general management. Standard Chartered and HPCL were the largest recruiters' on campus, making seven offers each.

"Our students also secured internships in two of the 'Big 4' audit firms -- Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Other big 'recruiters' were Standard Chartered, ICICI Bank, ICICI Lombard, IL&FS, SBICAPS, HPCL, General Motors, Maruti Suzuki, UB Group, Airtel, Idea, Reliance Communications, HCL, JSW-Ispat, IOCL, Nitco Tiles," the spokesperson said.
